Ever since man separation from God, due to the fall, there as being a longing in the heart of every man. To found there way back to God, this has birth all the religion in our world today. Mankind want to get there way to God. All the religion in the world fall short of receiving salvation because because they put the burden of salvation on man.
This also have been the main reason behind much of mess much of today's church too have found themselves in. They teaches that through adhering to some do and don'ts will make then more acceptable to God. They have all miss it somewhere that "All have sin and come short of the Glory of God"(Romans3:23) and that man need a savior.
They forget that God has done something in the person of our lord Jesus Christ. God gave his only son to die on our place because only a perfect and sinless sacrifice could be offered to pay for our misdeeds. He take is own blood to the heavenly holy place to obtained eternal redemption for us. Man need a advocate with the father because of the boundary that our sin has set between us and God, "we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous" (1john2:1) he stood at the gap our sin have created and then bring us to God. In our own will can't approach the father. But will are not of our own. you have to received Jesus to be lord over your life.
Some other have a lot they trust in that can usher there salvation, some trust in there communication of alms, which is Good but not enough, some trust There name on the Church registry roll or the in God we trust on there country currency.
Forgetting that man is lost today, not because of what he did. But because of what he is. If it was what man did, a mere change in action could have get the matter solve. Man's nature need to change.
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned " Romans5:12)
The first sin committed by Adam wrought the moral ruin of the race.
Now let look at Jesus account of ministering salvation. In mark10:17-22
"And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good master, what shall.I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, why calmest thou me Good? There is none good but one, that is God. Thou knowest the commandments, do not steal, do not bear false witness, defraud not, honor thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him. Master all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus beholding him love him, and said unto him, one thing thou lackest; go thy way. Sell whatever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt hast, treasure in heaven; and come, take up thy cross and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possession.
This man was seeking the right thing and he came to the right person but he did a number of things wrong.
1.HE DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGED THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS.
The word lord means bread provider, shield and protector. It is all a husband is to a wive. This rich young ruler was ready to acknowledge that Jesus was good. But wouldn't go so far to acknowledge is Lordship. Many religion in the world recognized that Jesus was a great man. But yet rejected and refused to make any commitment and confess him as lord over there life, and be saved. "If thou shalt confess with your mouth the lord Jesus; and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raise him from the dead thou shalt be saved" (Romans10:9)
Just recognizing Jesus has a Good prophet that was killed because his people hated him can't help. You have to believe what the word said about him. And what the word about you.
"For God so love the world that he gave is only begotten son, that whosoever believe in him shall not perich but have eternal life(john3:16) that this Jesus was God gift for the sin of the world. And that he said "us all have sin and come short of his Glory."
Some churches today tell people just to do their best or join their church, etc. And they'll go to heaven. But that not so you have to recognized Jesus as the lord of your life. And then become complete dependent on him.
The commitment to Jesus as lord as to be done. Even thou you may fall short of the commitment the lord is full of mercy. He'll lift you up.
I made this commitment some years back but haven regret it till today. Because it's the greatest thing in your life. It determined your eternal destiny.(if you Haven't make the commitment at the end of this study there is a prayer for you).
2.HE WAS TRYING TO REACH GOD THROUGH IS EFFORT.
He wanted to know what he could DO to gain eternal life. But will can't do enough work to earn eternal life. "And if by grace, then it is no more of work, otherwise grace Is no more grace, but if it is of work then it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. (Romans11:6) many in the church today are doing the same thing. They think there church going or Bible reading will atone for there sin. Or make then more pleasing to God.
Jesus knew this man was incapable of saving himself. He didn't tell him to keep the old testament law so that he could earn salvation. The law was not giving so that will could keep them. But to see our helplessness and called out for a savior.
3.HE ONLY ACKNOWLEDGED HIM AS A GOOD MAN.
Every great men of different religion in the world had only recognized the greatness of Jesus. But not is claimeds to divinity. He told the Jews of is day that before Abraham was I AM.
Then the Gospel record that they pick up stones to cast at him. (John8:58,59). This sentence immediately challenges our attention because of the extraordinary liberty it takes with the grammar. If the lord Jesus just merely wanna expressed is pree-xistence he would surely have said, "before Abraham was, I was." But he said "before Abraham was, I am.
Without any doubt he is taking us back to the day when Moses, bowing before God at the burning bush, asking what name he should tell the God that was sending him to the children of isreal.(exodus 3:14:15)
Also when Jesus was questioned by the chief priests, he admitted he was the Christ (matt21:63-64). The chief priest says that he has spoken blasphemy or ascribed divinity to himself. Jesus has to be more than a man to be a sacrifice for the sin of the whole whole human race.
The house of Israel miss out the time of there visitation. Because they could not recognized him as God.(luke19:44) " to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself. Not imputing their trespass unto them. And hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."(2cor5:19)
God is not imputing anyone trespass unto him, the only sin that is taken people to hell is not acknowledging Jesus as lord and God. And savior.
And if you haven't make that commitment now can be a great opportunity. Tomorrow can be late. All there's is believe in your heart what the word say about him and make is confession with your mouth.
!!!!father. I recognized that I am totally dependent on you to save me. I accept Jesus sacrifice as the payment for my sins. And I make him the Lord of my life Now. I believe that Jesus is alive from the death and is living in me.
